Trudy and the Romance
The Liverpool trio are currently making waves thanks to their cinematic indie sound and persuasive live shows. Described as "mutant '50s pop", Trudy and the Romance (shown above) specialise in a ramshackle but cinematic sound that’s made BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq declare himself a bona fide fan. Jangling guitars and yelped vocals make the band’s three-minute perfect pop offerings essential listening for fans of the Libertines, early Maccabees and the likes of The Big Moon and Yak. Expect pleading lyrics and melodies that half-slur and half-soar in equal measure.
